I am using 6.3.4 and I am quite happy with it.
It is very stable on my system.
And it it is very responsive, esp compared to the newest Lightroom (LR 4 RC2)

me too. didn't upgrade since 6.2.2 as the memory handling was awful. running ok though with this version. Still uses loads of memory and isn't very efficient but a lot more stable. so far...

    Hallo Alex,
I am running Win7 32bit and still searching for a stable version 6 for 32bit-Windows. Also the 6.4.x are still unusable while often gets out of memory (says: please restart...).

However, some 32bit-users have no problems, and that is the mystery what I know since version 5 was developed. Same problems with version 5 now in version 6, but version 5 reached a stage of development, version 6 still not!

    @Jim MSP
You are a 64bit Windows 7 user, not 32bit, so I can't understand Your message.
We all know, that there are many users without problems, but how does this statement helps all the colleagues with a still unstable C1???
We also had paid for the software, but working with it is a anytime disaster. This thread is not an inquiry!

I'm using Win 32 and version 6.3.2 and it seems quite stable.

It can use a lot of memory and seems to extend to use almost all available memory and slow down somewhat but has very rarely crashed or advised that it is struggling.

My usual machine is an old Dell Pentium Dual Core with just 3Gb Ram installed. System analysis reports that the bottlenecks are memory and disk access time - no surprise.

It is not entirely dedicated to photo processing but I rarely use it for anything else. On the same machine an installation of version 5.<something> was not very stable unless signs of potential problems were carefully watched and corrected by closing C1 and re-opening.

The system can be less happy if running more than one C1 session at a time but it will do it provided the number of files in the open folders seem reasonable.

It may be worth mentioning that that I mainly work with Canon RAW files from 4 different cameras all 10Mp sensors. Files sizes mostly vary between about 8Mb and 14Mb as RAW originals.

I have no idea whether this is relevant but having always found that Acrobat Reader tended to use far more memory than seemed necessary and other programs frm he same source seemed to have smilar tendencies so I have no Adobe programs installed on this machine (other than, maybe, Flash for use with Internet activity.) My second C1 machine is a lower spec Notebook which does have Adobe products installed. Although I don't use it a lot it may be worth observing that it too seems quite stable with the same version of C1 installed.

My impression is that most problems encountered may have system configuration matters at their centre - but what the system config 'conflicts' may be is not so easy to identify.

This is not much help to those having problems - sorry - but may be of some interest.

ETA: I meant to point out that I was getting this stability running on Win 7 despite some fairly ancient (by current standards) hardware. I have some machines that still run XP (although one looks like it died a few weeks ago) and frankly they are slow running anything and not really very stable with anything either. 7 is a big improvement, in my opinion, for a number of reasons and highly recommended for most recent software releases - not just C1.

I've been trying 6.4 on WinXP, but the preview updates are tedious. I constantly have to click out of my working folder, then back in to get the screen to update correctly. I think I'll go back to 6.3.2 which has been the most responsive for me. I hope it gets worked out, because I'll eventually need the updates when I get a new camera which isn't supported in the older releases.

    Hi,

I'm running C1Pro V6.4.1 on a notebook with XP 32bits 3GB RAM quite fine processing 24MP files from my Sony A850.
The only problem is occasional freezing (with the need to restart the application) when working with Local Adjustments using a big brush.
