Support ticket: Request for hardware recommendation
Dear Support Team.
C1 is very resource / hardware demanding, isn't it?
Is there a list of supported and/or recommended graphic cards? including drivers versions. "Certification", as other vendors do would be ideal, "recommendations" without liabilty would be fair enough.
Is there a list of your capable and reliable systems which you can derive from your test systems?
Is there a list of capable and reliable P1 staffs' privately owned hardware (worksations / notebooks) which you can use as the basis for public recommendations?
If not, please consider this as a request, don't let us users down with expensive own trial and error methog to find the right hardware.
Thanks and best regards

P.S. I filed this request with support for C1 8 (which I am currently using) but of course it is much more interesting for C1 9, isn't it? 😉

Have a look at the support web site and typically you can search the knowledge base 0 -
Thanks.
At least for graphics cards there is a little more information, indeed. THis is answering my first question I guess.
Besides the Knowledge base article 1701, where recommended RAM is twice (16 GB+) as high as in the official documentation (8 GB+) (online help/pdf) 😕
... I found the really interesting Knowledge base article 1720 (OpenCL (GPU) Support in Capture One).
For Windows, there is list of 142 supported graphic cards.
... and a recommendation for best performance:
NVIDIA: GTX TITAN Z, Geforce GTX780Ti
AMD: Dual D700, HD7950
Although there are newer cards supported (e.g. GTX 980), is the GTX780Ti still faster for C1?

I got a reply from P1 support: Hi,
You can find our supported graphis cards here:
https://www.phaseone.com/en/Search/Arti ... nguageid=1
In regards to what we use we all use Macbook Pro with 1tb of solid state and 16gb of ram.
If you are a windows user and want something portable I really reccomend the top end surface Pro 4 which is an awesome piece of kit to use.
If you are building your own PC or buying something else heres what I would reccomend.
At least 16gb of ram
As many cores as you can afford
One of the listed graphics cards
Solid State Drive (This will speed up everything hugely!)
I hope this helps
If you have any other questions let me know.
Kind regards
Phase One Support
Thank you very much for your prompt reply!
It does help to some extent indeed.
(it also makes me think switching to a Mac 😊
I would have appreciated more concrete information for windows based systems but I understand that this is not easy to investigate and publish.
I have heard from Lionel in his Blog that some benchmark information is under work, at least for graphic cards, which is very good news.
I wonder if RAM speed is a major factor as I have not read very much in the forum or elsewhere about that..
Thanks again, best regards and merry Xmas.0 -
THis is an interesting article.

Also, the answer from Lionel Kuhlmann (17/12/2015 at 1:10 pm) who is the lead of the image-processing group behind Capture One, is very promising 😄 😄 😄
cheers
