Adjustments not on the clipboard are applied
Hello,
I want to copy noise reduction adjustments only.

When I choose another image and Apply, all sorts of adjustments are applied from the copied image, like Curve, LCC and Sharpening, even though they are not in the clipboard.
What could cause this?
The images both have multiple "Adjusted" and "Adjusted Overriden" styles. Could this change the behaviour of the clipboard?

Select the image you want to copy from and the image you want to copy to. Then hold Shift and Alt then click the on the individual Copy Adjustment icon in the Noise Reduction panel. 0 -

Have you asked the Capture One Support team?
Did your original image that you are copying from have the Styles you mention?
If so do the styles already have Noise Reduction values applied?
Was the image to which you are applying the NR adjustments already have edits and NR adjustments applied?
Where does LCC fit into this? Was the originating file for the NR values that you are copying treated with an LCC adjustment?
The NR values are relative adjustments for a given combination of camera, exposure values and probably other factors. That means that in cases where you might have a number of almost identical images taken on the same camera (model) with the same settings, same lens and so on adjusting one image and then applying the changes to all of the images is likely to be OK. However if the target image has already been edited/adjusted or is not extremely similar to the "copy from " image I would imagine that things might get quite tricky and other factors may need to be considered in order to make the adjustment effective.
Probably the only way to know with any degree of certainty is to ask the Support Team.0 -
I have noticed similar issues. Recently, when trying to copy grain settings from one variant to another, the paste function seemed to apply exposure settings that had not been copied! I never worked out what was going wrong... 0 -

You cannot tell CO what to copy. You can only tell it what to apply.
So make sure you have the correct sequence:
1) copy adjustments from your source image
2) select the adjustments you want to apply in the adjustments clipboard
3) apply the adjustments to your target image(s)
CO always copies all adjustments and ticks on all non-standards for applying.
So you can tick off active ones as well as tick on inactive ones.
The possibility to tick on an unchanged value can be very helpful, for example when copying out of cam correct white balance values from one image to the other(s).

Thanks for all the responses! [quote="Bobtographer" wrote:

The support team responded and said the same (this is called "Quick local copy and apply" in the manual), and it does work as expected.
I'm still confused as to why the clipboard doesn't work as i expect it to though.[quote="SFA" wrote:

Yes, possibly more than one active style has Noise Reduction.[quote="SFA" wrote:

Yes.[quote="SFA" wrote:

Both the original and the target has LCC adjustments. When applying the clipboard with only NR checked, the LCC Profile source image was overwritten.[quote="SFA" wrote:

That is interesting. The images are taken with the same setup but the target has different settings.
This is my first big test of CO, and my workflow and style settings are a mess because I have made new versions of the style and applied it over the previous one.
In any case though, I can't see how this is working as intended. I'm applying only a specific setting from one picture to the other, that's what I expect to happen.[quote="HansB" wrote:

This is the sequence I'm doing.0 -
I have noticed something similar when copying settings between images with different layers. I thought that it had been fixed with the latest update. 0 -
I think what you have already in the edit (styles and multiple changes for example) is much too complicated to be a suitable basis for the test that you are attempting. It would be better to simplify it by creating a new variant of the image and just applying NR to it to see what is changed via the clip board when the NR adjustment is then applied to another new variant. Keep it simple to start with.
Having just tested several possible variations of processing on an image which, as captured, was noise free but rather "flat" compared to the subject but which, after a number of heavy adjustments (making the value changes very obvious) was vivid but very noisy, I can say that when the adjusted image values were copied to the clipboard (Using the Auto Select Adjusted setting) they were copied as expected and pasted as expected.
If I then cleared all but the NR values and pasted on another previous unadjusted (other than the RAW conversion values) variant only the NR values were applied. Being noise free at that point the image did not appear to change. However when I then applied some extreme adjustments to that variant using normal editing it was quite obvious that the NR values were indeed affecting the outcome.
So at the basic level it should be easy to check.
I have not looked at anything that might get more complex where styles and/or layers are concerned.
