MacBookPro and Canon Cameras
Is anyone aware of any known issues capturing or using Capture One with any of the Canon cameras such as the 5D, IIN, or 1DS? I am buying a new powerbook soon and unsure if the new MacBookPro powerbook will prevent me from being able to process or capture with my new latest and greatest computer. Anyone who can give some feedback with a Pro would be much appreciated. I know the Phase backs are capturing with the new computer from what I've been told.

This is known not to work with current version of Capture One.
Capture One 3.7.4 will be universal binary enable and by that work nativly on Intel based Mac's.
Official release date have not been set but it will be out soon.0 -
Do you have any type of timeframe for soon? Within a month, three months, anything more specific then soon would be appreciated. Thanks. 0 -
I 've had a MacBook Pro for a week now. (2.0 2 gig ram 100 gig HD)
I'm running 10.4.5, C1 pro 3.7.3 with a Canon 20D teathered USB w/ a 15 ft Active USB repeater. Capturing works ,processing works seam a little slower than my PB 1.67 w/ 2gig. This past weekend i hook a P45 up to the MBP, shot IIQ small files , shot continuously on a H1 and shot at a respectable rate. Burst was set for 10, as fast as the back was ready, fired off a volly of 15 shots w/o all the capture indicators going yellow. Hey at least you can shoot teathered & process files.
I tried Leaf 10 and it did't run , Leaf 4.8.1 software worked but won't shoot teathered to a back, and Flexcolor has a funtioning public Beta 4.5.3 in binary so Phase won't be far behind. I knew thered be teething problems when I made the investment in the MBP. As a Digital Tech I need Capture software to run , run stable and fast. Photoshop CS2 speed on the MBP is slower than my PB1.67, but for light work it's fine, (I have a G5 dual 2.7 w/4.5 gig of ram and 3 internal drives for processing). Patience0 -
For those of you that want more Fw 400 ports . I going to order a Express card that has 2 FW 400 ports. The link for it is

I want to see what the power output is for the ports to make sure that it works. Until then when shooting with the P-series backs, I will have the battery in the back.
When I recieve it I'll post my finding. I personally think is was STUPID of Apple not to include another Fw 800 or 400 port. Hopefuly I will be able to shoot teathed with it, just incase the primary builtin FW port goes bye bye. I'd have adapter. I use the same thinking to my G5 tower, it has a Full sized PCI card with 2 FW 400 & 2 FW 800 ports that work fine with shooing teather with any manufactures digital back even though it's not\" technically supported\"
P.S. Phase One what are the Firewire power requirement for you P & H series backs ?
I'm curious to see what happens when the battery power get low on the MBP and capture reliability.

Thanks for the input....sounds like they are at least on the right track. So you think I should buy the MacBookPro over a older 15\" or 17\" Powerbook? I guess the pro is the way to go with long term in mind. We shall see. 0 -
Timeframe aye? I know you guys are all stepping on your toes to get a faster laptop, which I fully understand!
We are talking weeks not months. Initial beta testing has been done and it is fast.0 -
That is good enough for me. If you are not talking months I can be patient. Thanks. 0
