Remedy for vanishing WIC DNG metadata with C1 5.1.2
If you don't have this problem, life is good and please ignore this post.
My OS is Windows 7 32bit.
With the upgrade to Windows C1Pro5.1.2 I found that I lost most DNG metadata (specifically Leica Camera DNG) on import to Expression Media 2 SP2. Before upgrading to C1 pro 5.1.2, I was able to read and write DNG metadata in Expression Media 2 with my existing third party WIC (Windows Imaging Component) DNG codec. This broke with C1 5.1.2 and its install of the C1 rendering WIC. It renders fine and is fast but, (in my case) it lost DNG metadata coming into Expression Media.
While this is not sanctioned by Phase One, I found a simple remedy. Go to "C:/Program Files/Phase One/Capture One 5/WIC" and double click on "Disable.bat". This simply runs "regsvr32 /u C1Codec.dll" which removes the C1 WIC rendering. I have not experienced any ill-effects of removing the C1 WIC and I am still able to Drag&Drop between ExpMed2 and C1 Pro for star and color ratings.
Hope this helps,
Mark
