Not sure where to post this so I will start here.
In CO8 I would like to see an option to toggle between the black background and a more neutral background, like grey, in the tool panels. Small light text against black background is hard on the eyes. Eye opening iris to accommodate black field causes small light text to be glary and difficult to read. Maybe everyone doesnt think so, but I will bet there are enough users who would appreciate this option.

While you cannot do it from the toolbar, you can choose the background tone from the Preferences. 0 -

I cannot find in Preferences where the adjustment is you refer to. which tab in Preferences?

It's in "Appearance" section. It's a drop down menu under for "viewer color". You can't set a custom color, but you can change it from light to dark etc.0 -

I believe that at present the tool panels background cannot be modified.
