Importing Pictures

I normally use Windows Live Photo to import Pictures from my SD Cards, once imported I import them to Capture one. It seems that by doing this the pictures uses more of my storage space like if im importing it twice on my pc. Is this normal?

  To answer your question it is important to now:
  - do you import in Capture One to a session or catalog
  - if catalog, do you choose Inside Catalog or Current Location
  
  Depending on your choice, you have double copies on your disk (with session and with catalog > Inside Catalog).
  
  When you work with sessions you could consider not to import but browse to the folder with images and open it.
  When you work with catalog you could select Current Location on import.
  Both these options do not copy your images but leave them where they are and prevent double copies.
