I use an app that I wrote that creates folders within the captures folder for each shot setup. You can download it from here

thanks. but my main issue that i run into with folders is that i cant view two images at the same time from two different folders. meaning i cant see two shots from the same shoot lined up if i put every shot in a different folder.

This is a limitation of Capture One 3.7.x. Capture One 4 has a feature called albums which you can use to compare images from different folders without having to move or duplicate the file.

For working in 3.7 I would also recommend one session per day or job, and then have each look/shot in separate folders. As a tech I found this to be the most efficient way to keep things organised. My setup was very similar to the RAP's.

For catalog shoots where we need to match background I create another folder called light_tests in that I duplicate a shot from each shot folder so that I can easily see that everything is looking uniform. Then using the 2up display I can judge contrast etc match. Bit of a pain but works once you get into the habit.

i like that idea of duplicating the files. thats great. but the only way ive found to copy files is to do it through finder which trashes all settings. is there a better way or will i just need to wait for version 4?
