Scanning system folder takes long time

I am new to Capture One an need some assitance 😉

In Session mode I want to open a raw file in a system folder which contains about 4 thousand of pictures. C1 starts working. A counter in the Browser Window shows the amount of raws C1 already has managed. After a couple of minutes C1 has finished and I can start working on picture.
If I want to work on an other raw in a different system folder I have to wait again ☹️

What is the right procedure to work on raws in system folders and avoid waiting some minutes each time I change the folder?

  oooh in Library? I can happily swap from 1 folder to another even if C1 is working on that folder.. I've not got any folders that have 4K worth of images inside however.. I cull my shoots using BreezeBrowser Pro and then open the keepers in C1.

  I have a feeling that you are importing one file at a time;
  
  Or that you have all the 4000 files imported, but are selecting a smart album that makes the program index the whole thing each time you select a different smart album.

  Thank you for your replies.
  I'm not usung smart albums at the moment. I just select one Folder in "System Folders". If such a Folder with one or two thousand raws is selected, C1 slows down, CPU Load goes up. Closing C1 takes minutes as well.

  Oh now I see! Sorry, I hadn't used Sessions like that.
  
  I would suggest using a catalog and then "adding", the folders where your files are, to the catalog. In that way everything is linked to the catalog from the original folders, aka "import in the original location".
  
  Capture One will then parse everything once, generate and store previews, and have your files mostly ready when you switch between folders.

  That's a good hint. C1 provides several default albums in a session. Deleteing them solves the problem 😄 .
  Nevertheless starting C1 or closing it takes a quite long time. When exit C1 a "Saving...." message appears. This process takes a couple of minutes 😕 . But this might be another post in the forum.
