Activation issues - NOT HAPPY!
A couple of days ago I updated my C1 Pro 3.7.3 to 3.7.4. After installation I started the application and got a message saying my serial number was not valid and I needed to re-activate. It then went into Trial mode.
So I went through the activation procedure, re-activated the software and created a support case in the hope that Phase One would give me back the activation I just used. NOT THE CASE! They are refusing to give me it back and have closed my support call!
This means I only have 1 more activation left. I really do not see why I need to waste an activation when all I did was update the software. I have never had issues like this with other software which use an activation procedure (PS for example).
Anyone else had problems like this?

iSeries,
Since I handled your Support Case, I will try one last time to thoroughly explain exactly the situation here.
If you own Capture One the License Policy is clear:
1 License = 1 User = 2 Different Computers Activated.
All Activations are monitored, controlled, and logged by Support in enforcement of the License Policy.
Yes, abusers in the past have made it a bit more of a process for Honest Users.
You are always entitled to your 2 computer activations and they are Never Used Up.
If you ever get an Activations Exceeded message when trying to activate, then you will have to create a Support Case and explain why you are attempting a 3rd activation.
Allowances are made for system problems and new machines.
A case should include the Product Key and the Email of Profile used for activations.
A simple explanation such as, Upgrade OS, Reformat HD, New HD, will suffice.
The Activation is then reset and you are able to reactivate on the same machine... just as you had done last January for a HD change.
In the event one purchases a New Computer and has 2 machines already activated, a complete Uninstall from an old machine must be done, and a Support Case submitted.
The activation will then be reset from Old so it can be used on the New computer.
Be sure not to confuse 2 Free UpGrades with 2 Activations.
You actually did not have to create a Support Case.
You had activations available.
You would not have received the Activations Exceeded message.
All you needed to do was enter the Product Key and get reactivated instantly.
In the future, updating through the program will transfer the Activation.
If for some reason it does not… you know the routine now !
Hopefully this is better understood by all.
There are Knowledge Base articles on these topics at the Support Site.
They explain the activation protocol in great detail.
Cheers,

I'm not confusing anything with anything.
I didnt have a HD CHANGE in January - I ADDED a HD to my system. And when I started C1 I got a message saying my serial was invalid and that I neeeded to re-activate. So I re-activated, which reduced my number of remaining activations to ONE. I created a support case, and had my activations set back to TWO. So why is this not the case now?
When I have to re-activate my software for a reason other than installing on a new machine, I believe it should be dealt with NOW, and not in the future when I get an activations exceeded message. Who knows when I will get a new computer and get this message - and when it does happen, what if I raise a support case and you ask me why I have used all my activations and I had forgotten all about having to re-activate this time and cannot provide you with an adequate excuse for you to grant me another activation?
Why cant you just deal with this NOW???0 -
iSeries,
Adding a HD IS a change in HD.
One final attempt to explain and then this Case and Thread are Closed.
2 Activations come with a License
Activate 1 computer, and you will see 1 Activation remaining in the Product & Order History at Profile
Activate 2 computers and you will see 0 Activations remaining.
When You have a computer activated and working, you will not see 2 Activations remaining.
We cannot reset unnecessarily.
Sincerely,
k c0
