Why a credit card # for SE > to either PRO or LE?

I know that the e-shop says there will not be a charge, but it seems very unreasonable to expect a user to enter their credit number if there is not going to be a charge of any sort. This is extracting and maintaining personal and financial information (credit card number) for no good reason other than to get unneeded information about an individual. Is it possible to otherwise do this upgrade without giving out a credit card number?

  I second that! I will not be handing out my credit card to anybody that doesn't need it. Please explain the method by which we can obtain the key by email, without a credit card.

  For those that received the incorrect Product Key, please go to the web site and Create a Support Case at: http://support.phaseone.com
  Please title the Case SE to PRO Ugrade
  Your Case will be addressed as soon as possible with a reply issuing a PRO version Product Key for your Activation.

  Thanks... I had gone ahead and created a case # and received a reply pretty much stating what you said here, though I am downgrading from SE to LE since PRO does not have any extra features that are of use to me and I don't want to get locked into a more expensive upgrade path later.

  I can't find anywhere what future upgrades would cost on Pro.

  Apparently it's $199 for each Pro update. Too hot for me so I'm downgrading from SE to LE
