Question about catalogues
is this the right are to ask this? or will i get answers in the media pro area? I know its not media pro, but there are similarities..
I have just started the very long tedious process of making catalogues of my sessions that are on my NAS raid. I need access to my tagged files, so this is the only way I know how to as you cant pracyically open sessions off a nas raid.
my question is, i now can see my tags, and folders, but they are very messy- they show as separate folders, not in the structure of the jobs I did. so i would like to organise them- like put in organised folders that make sense.
I think I can change teh names of the original folders, but would prefer not to. I would rather change the names on the only on the catalogue, and use that to organise myself.
the only way I see i can do this is with user collections. But this seems to be just a list? I have far too many shoots to have a list down the side bar. So I need to use projects and groups.
i dont quite understand the difference. should I use groups for large amounts of jobs, maybe per year , ie "all 2014", then put in there "projects" per job- like " sony shoot". and within that have albums of "shot one" or "selected shots"?
does this make sense and will work? I am guessing "projetcs", "albums" and "groups" are just file structure only, that dont do anything different than each other?
cheers paul
