    Hello,

    I have a G4 1,67 laptop (6 months old) for travelling and a G5 bi-pro 1,8 at the studio.
The speed difference is quite amazing and my advice would be for you to go ahead with the G5 !

    Thanks for the reply.

    Let me rephrase my question.

Can anyone tell me if C1Pro is made to take advantage of dual processors or not?

I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade my processor to a faster single processor or if C1Pro is optimized for dual processors.

    Keith,

How much RAM can Capture One Pro effectively use?

Assuming we're talking about a G5 Powermac that has a maximum capacity of 8GB of ram.

I have 4.5 gig of ram on my dual 2. I give Photoshop CS2 2 gigs and the rest is for C1 Pro 3.7.2.

    All is running smoothly.

Please follow this link to the knowledge base regarding how much ram is to be used by Capture one.
As written this is a minimum amount of ram to run Capture One is 512Mb.
The total amount of ram to be used is depending on the size of your thumbnails and how many thumbnails that is in the active folder.
Let’s say you have 100 thumbnails in the folder and the size of the thumbnail is 250 KB and also you have your centre preview which is about 3 to 5 mb. now you have allocated around 30mb + that the application in it self is around the same size some what depending on which tools are currently active.
In reallity Capture One is a extremely memory effective application so the memory discussion is more relevant to programs which opens the files in full like PhotoShop.

Capture One is quite efficient with RAM usage.
You'll see in Knowledge Base article #1729
    http://support.phaseone.com/KB/Home/Sea ... nguageID=1

A discussion from Developers states that, \"64-bit support is primarily for programs that need to address more than 2 - 4 GB of memory and Capture One does not approach that memory need.\"

You can peek at how much RAM Capture One is using by opening the Activity Monitor at Applications/Utilities/Utilities and choosing Show Activity from the Process menu.

    Cheers,
