In the latest release notes for Capture One 9, it says about Fujifilm cameras:

"LCC, auto mask, export DNG, repair layers: Not supported"

LCC and export as DNG one can live without, but no auto mask and no repair layers is a rather serious omission.

Anyone know why auto mask and repair layers is not supported with Fujifilm cameras?

Also, under "Support for leading cameras", there are no notes or comments about this for Fujifilm cameras, so I am not sure if I misunderstand something.

I would suggest that Automask is not such a big deal if you like everything else about C1 since manual masking IS possible.

Repair layers ..... well, C1 is not the only game in town for repair layers so again, not the end of the world.

The challenge is that the way those functions work in C1 is designed for a Bayer array sensor data output - and the Fuji sensor is something rather different. It is likely that other applications either do not work from the RAW data for all of those functions OR, if they do, have existing mass market penetration and a large enough development team to make the effort commercially viable.

There would be, we are told, a very large amount of development required to write another process engine just to add those features to C1 for the Fuji sensors. And, as said, their absence in C1 is not the end of the world for Fuji camera users.

I would guess that there are two ways this could develop.

One would be that so many people buy the Fuji cameras and Capture One that their numbers and their requests for support make a clear case for the software engineering investment to be made.

The other would be that Fuji themselves come under pressure from their customers to talk to Phase about how suitable development effort could be supported.

    Or perhaps both.

There is certainly no reason to expect Phase, whose primary business interests have traditionally been about creating and providing software for their families of Medium Format cameras, to suddenly drop everything to support the Fuji sensor even if one suspects they might do so, other commercial relationships not withstanding, if such a decision can be justified.

To suggest anything more would be getting deeply into speculation and that is something that is clearly not allowed according to the rules of the forum.

However if you want to make a case for the effort being undertaken create a Support Case for an Enhancement Request and add you name to the list of however many others have been committed enough to make that effort. Phase use the Support Cased system to assess interest in features and, in this case, the level off market interest in the Fuji sensor, so adding your request to the tally would be a good thing to do.

    HTH.
