Impossible to designate Output folder in CO Pro 4.8
It has become impossible to designate any given folder under the Library tab as an Output folder in CO Pro 4.8. Control clicking on a particular folder under the Library tab yields a contextual menu with the relevant field grayed-out and hence un-selectable. I've tried to delete the app together with prefs, application support files and all other files that I've been able to find, so as to re-install it. No success. The only work-around that I've found is to revert to 4.7, which in this respect works flawlessly.
Since the feature requests that I and others have made since the release of v 4 are still absent (they are too numerous to repeat yet again, but essentially involve a convergence with the functionalities, ease and efficiency of workflow obtaining in v 3.7.9 Pro - i.e. focus tool, etc....), this is not a major hardship.
Suggestions welcome.

Have you tried making a new session file? 0 -
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it when I have the time to re-install 4.8 again. 0 -
Ralph,
It seems some others have taken an interest in your case and contacted us through the support system. I would recommend that you do the same as we have not been provided details by the other, only a link to this post and a description that it is happening on their end. We would certainly like to look into it but need you to create a support case and provide us with some details so we can try to recreate the issue. Suffice to say this is not normal operation for 4.8, so if a new session doesn't do the trick please follow up with a support case.
Also, in regard to your feature requests, if they were made through the support system and not on the forum please provide us with case #'s and we'd be happy to try and follow up on them with you.0 -

After following the Phase knowledge base instructions for deleting the app, I reinstalled 4.8 and created a new session file. It did not help, I am still unable to designate an Output folder in the manner indicated above. Reverting to 4.7 eliminated the problem.0 -
Drew,
Thank you for your response.
I created a support case on 10 May, and have a case number. No help forthcoming at the present time. I will be happy to supply you with my case number.
In regard to a precise list of requested features, this also has been duly submitted and this has been done repeatedly since the release of v 4.0, albeit via these forums. A Phase representative posted in one of these threads, and stated that our requests would be taken into consideration, so that an effort was made to present a compact and coherent list of features (almost all already present in CO Pro 3.7.9).0 -
I've heard from the kindly disposed support team, and the gist of the message was that this is an isolated incident. No solution was provided and the problem fundamentally remains. It is curious, however, that by reverting to 4.7, the issue is resolved. 0 -
Are any other items in the contextual menu greyed out besides "Set as output folder" ?
Have you tried to double-click the "Output folder" item under "Session folders"? It should bring up a open panel to choose a folder.0 -
Well, I've been able to determine the cause of the problem that gave rise to this thread. Since Sessions were introduced in CO Pro - and this goes way back and up to v 4.7, it has been possible to have folders with names in the form:
Paris 5/'09 - City Month/Year
I would then nest all the Session folder templates for a given month and location within this folder - a holdover from CO Pro 3.7.9 (and earlier) which had a better Session generating procedure and template. Since I still find CO Pro 3.7.9 more congenial and functional for my purposes, I still continue to generate templates and narrow down image selections within this program, and then once image selection has been made, I then do my processing and conversions in CO 4. This worked up to and including CO 4.7, which allowed for the "slash" in the folder name and apparently this has changed in 4.8 which will not recognize any folder whose name contains a " / ". The end result being that I can no longer access these earlier folders - years of work - for the purpose of designating them as "Output folders. Saying that I'm not happy about this understates the matter to a certain extent. Please allow the slash in folder names.0 -

It is generally a bad idea to use slash characters in file or folder names, as the slash itself indicates a new folder in many file systems. And so the slash character may be misinterpreted in some cases. I'd recommend you to rename the folders so they don't contain a slash. There are tools that can help you do that easily for many folders at once.0 -
This has never been a problem up to now, either with Mac OS or any of the software that I have used for processing images be it for Raw conversion or post-processing, that is until CO v 4.8 which cannot recognize these files, although earlier iterations of the software can. I'm not asking the program to create files with slash characters in their names, but merely to recognize a general folder with this naming convention that contains session folders with names in which no slash appears as they've been created by the program itself, i.e. v 3.7.9. More unsettlinsg still is the lack of a helpful response from Phase Support to unravel this issue, and the fact, as evidenced above, that our carefully enumerated previous feature requests have not been heard, despite affirmations to the contrary. 0 -
Does 4.8.1 take this issue into consideration? 0 -
Feedback anyone? Has this issue been addressed in 4.8.2? 0 -

Probably typo: should be 4.8.1?0 -
Hello Paul,
Definitely a typo. Should be 4.8.1. Has this issue been addressed?0 -

Ralph, I am not sure but expect it does since there was a similar (?) issue with the Japanese version (Japanese XP) in relation to certain characters. This issue is fixed, (according to release notes) making me think yours was addressed also. If you can find the time, give 4.8.1 a try and let us know.0 -
Paul,
Thanks very much for taking the time to comment. Since I'm still waiting for the re-appearance of the Focus Tool, which disappeared with the advent of v.4.0, I haven't gotten my hopes up about the rectification of this issue, since the development team must consider it an issue meriting resolution.0 -
Thank you Phase for addressing this anomaly. Now for the Focus Tool.... 0 -

I am in 4.8.1 and have not been able to designate an output folder. CAP 1 continues to put processed files into the original folder.
I get the drop down menu to select a folder but and go through the process but it still processes them to their original folder.
Anyone have a solution?0
