I agree, e.g. what are this new Quick Cursor Tools?

    Great, congratulations for the team.

I am not aware, whether that "Edit with" feature was introduced with 8.1, I think so.

However, it works great. Open an image with an external editor, apply some changes, save it and the result is displayed in C1!

Wow, again thanks a lot to the team!

Quick cursor tools is a context "menu" with tool options... naming is a bit awkward but it works 😊

    context "menu" with tool options

OK, still unable to access that context menu, how to get there?

With I.e. the crop tool selected (or many others), just right-click on the image, and you will get the tool options opened, and the top-most slider will be centered to the cursor for quick and easy adjusting.

Great, thanks. However, as there a some interface glitches with the German localization, it is no fun to make use of that menu. I have reported some glitches via support cases, but nobody cares.

    Hey !

quick Cursor Tool is great ! thanks C1 !

Incremental camera control are just the "+" and "-" tab instead of list for camera controls like speed or EV (it's what I remark new ...)

for tiff option it is the "tile dimension" i think ; does someone know what is ?

Edit With option on its own was worth a point upgrade, thank you.

According to a google search, it is used in compression of TIFF files. Perhaps a short test will show you what it could do for you, i'm not sure all applications can deal with TIFF compression.

It kind of escapes me what the real advantage of the new "edit with" command really is.
Why not just "open wih" PS as a PSD file, and after editing save as desired file type in desired file location?
So what could be the real benefit here?

I think the difference between the "Edit With.." and "Open With..", "Edit With.." creates an image file that has the changes baked in, while the "Open With.." just opens the "Image" file, so if you bring up PS on a "RAW" file, it comes up in Camera Raw. I also like that "Edit With.." adds the newly created file to the catalog, which to me should of been there sense CO7, but at least it is there now.

So, I see the need for the two options. Yes, they could of made one dialog, but then the dialog would to me be confusing as now I have to decide, edit the "Image" with no adjustments, or generate a new file with adjustments, then I also have to give the output type, color space and so on.

To me "Open With..." is only really useful, if I want to send an already generated TIFF to some other program for additional modifications. As for using it with a RAW file, I would need to send it to a program that new how to handle the RAW file, then still have to manually handling the re-import of the generated file from the other program.

Here is how I would think the work flow for "Open With.." would work. (I know this is just a stupid example)

    Import Image into CO8.1
    Make adjustments.
"Edit With..." "Nik Viveza" creating a Tiff file.
    Edit in Viveca, and save.
    CO8.1, updates preview.
    "Open With..." "Nik Silver Effects"
Edit in "Nik Siler Effects" and save.
    Co8.1, updates preview

A nice follow on for 8.2 would be ability to create multiple recipes for "Edit With" This would give us a one click access to number of external editors.
