H-20 Back with Intel Mac Book Pro Laptop
Hi,
My P-30 back works great with my MacBook Pro and latest Capture One software. When I tether my H-20 back though, the red and green lights flash and the computer will not link wtih the back. Any suggestions would help.
Thanks

Matthew - no "sure fixes", but 2 suggestions: check firmware/software that the latest versions are being used. Also, check the phaseone site to make sure there are no known conflicts with MacPro's (or Intel-based in general) with the H20.
Most likely, I'm guessing it's the oft-noted problem with insufficient bus-power: The firewire ports on MacBooks supply less power than the older G4's. The solution with newer backs is to force the backs to work of battery power (either through menu's or a no-power firewire cable). I'm not sure that the H20 draws as much power as the newer backs (since there's no screen), but it's a possibility. I'd try it on another machine (preferably a powerbook) running the same versions of OSX and C1 with the same cable; if it runs smoothly, you've probably got a bus-power issue. Unfortunately, since there's no back battery I don't have a solution, if this is the case.0 -
Gully68 is correct, it is a power-related issue.
