C1P Crashes on cataloging fills disk
This is pretty brief as I have an appointment.
I am trying to catalog some 10,000 images (raf, nef, sony and canon) from an external drive. It managed to fill up my new Mac Pro's 1TB drive so I cannot send a screen shot.
My user folder has 972 GB in it including a backup of 538 GB and catalog of 325 GB.
I am new to a mac and am new to cataloging and am frustrated.
I tried to submit a support yesterday but it was politely declined; I will try again in a few hours.

I suggest you check two things.
First, when you import images into a catalog, you can copy the originals into your catalog file (Inside Catalog) or leave them where they are and let CO7 store a link to the file (Current Location). No need to say you should use Current Location.
Second, you can slim down you catalog by creating smaller (but not to small) preview cache files. The default is 2560 px, but smaller depending on your screen size might fit better. See Preferences > Image tab > Cache.0 -

Thank you,
1) I think I have done that, but still have a slew of image files on my backup volume. Should there be any image files on the back volume?
2)What is best way to delete C1Pro and related files from my Mac Pro to get a clean install? All critical image files are on external drives.0 -
Also, I got a Tech Support Case number now. 0 -
I think now it is better to discuss details with one contact, which is support.
Feel welcome to discuss any matter in the future, though.0 -

Yes, they have responded and we will see how it works.
Thank you!0
