I don't know how to describe this in what are likely better technical terms...BUT, are you sure that the NAS drive connections to your Mac OS are "awake"?

I find at times if there is non-use, that I have to go into Finder and click on the mapped NAS (I have synology too), and click a few directories and it takes a second for the NAS to spin up the drives and become active and functional.

I found with other software (I'm still evaluating C1 now)....that for example, before I wanted to import and write my backups to my NAS, I had to go on Finder and "wake it up" before I started the import and backup writing from memory card to both disks...if I didn't do that, jobs would fail...

Hello @Cayenne, yes I've understand what you mean and yes the connection between the nas and the Mac is active doing exactly what you mention going in Finder and connect to it.

I've made some tests and seems that the issue appear only if I connect to the nas over afp, with smb it is working fine. Probably is a bug that make afp not fully compatible with the software.

I've opened a support ticket so that they are aware about it and probably already exist already a fix.

    Thanks a lot

Have you activated AFP on Synology?

Also just to let you know, Apple has stopped developing AFP and relying on SMB now.

    Ok cool.

I was on with Apple Support awhile back, with an issue from sharing drives between an older MBP running High Sierra and a newer Mac Pro running Catalina.

It appears that disconnecting and reconnecting the laptop to my ethernet network (I would move it to my 'studio' for tethered shooting and move back to office to upload files to Mac pro's drives)...would give me problems with the shared drives.

I could share the screen all day long, but the drive shares were wonky. They'd come back if I rebooted the Mac Pro, but it shouldn't have to do that. I could make the direct effort to use Finder->GO to log into and app to the MBP's drives and it would great...but again, shouldn't have to do this.

Still working the issue and having to use the GO work around.

Anyway, that's the long back story to say that the support guy said for most anything, better to use SMB over afp.....so for now everything I do of this nature is SMB, I turn the afp off if it is offered as an option.
