Importing .jpg from Messenger into Pictures folder for editing in Capture One 20

You wrote "import two (2) .jpg files into my Pictures folder". Where are the pictures now?

Aside: I rarely import when using sessions.   I create a session then move or copy the images I want to the session capture folder.   Capture One notices that the folder has changed and displays the newly added images.

What size are the jpg files? Might they be black and white images?

I have assumed that you can see the Pictures folder in C1 and some other files within it. Just not the two files you want to edit. Is that correct?

Hi, regarding file size of these color photos, one is 433K and the other is 409K. I was trying to edit them (remove glare and a blurred object) for a friend.

Now located in the Pictures folder, both are greyed out although I can view both with Quick View. I just can't transition them into normal, usable photos within the Pictures folder for Capture One use.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks,
    Bill E.

What is the picture size in pixels.   Capture One will not edit any image that is smaller than 512 pixels on its shortest side.   A 640x480 pixel image, for example, can not be edited with Capture One.

Marco, the photos that I originally received are located in the Messenger text file as attachments. (It is possible, if necessary, to request that they be e-mailed to me as attachments, but I am not sure that would change anything).

At this point, I am open to any suggestions.

    Thank you,
    Bill E.

Again, what size in pixels?  You can get that info from finder.  If either of the dimensions are smaller than 512 you can not edit the photo with Capture One.  In that case you must request a larger image, preferable the full sized image out of the camera.

Also if they are B&W in Grey scale C1 will not work with them.

Converted to RGB and so long as no side is smaller that 512 pixels as Marco mentioned, I would expect them to be editable.

One proviso is that they really are jpgs but it is probably very unlikely that you have been sent 2 files that appear to be jpgs but somehow are not.

Sorry, I thought I sent the dimensions earlier; apparently, I was interrupted...

Marco, the photo dimensions shown are 2048 x 1365, well above the apparent CO minimums you mentioned.

    What now?

    Thanks,

    Bill E.

    SFA,

The photographer used a brand new Canon camera to which she was unaccustomed (thus the glare & blur issues). It is listed in the Finder info. as being a JPEG image.

    Thanks,

    Bill E.

OK.  We know the image is jpg and there is enough resolution.  My next guess would be something permissions related.  I'd try this...

    1) create a new session

    2) use "Show In Finder" on the session capture folder to open a finder window showing exactly where the session lives

    3) copy the images you want to edit from your Pictures folder to the Capture folder in the session

When you select the session Capture folder in Capture One it should show the images you copied to the Capture folder.   Are they now editable?

Thank you, Marco. I'm away from my computer until this evening and will follow up then.
