I'm starting to get the idea that no, you cannot do this with adapted lenses.

I didn't seem to be able to do it with my adapted Canon 100L macro lens on here, using the fotodiox fusion smart adapter.

I can autofocus the lens from the camera, but not via tethered controls.

Just as an aside, and it may be related....possibly the GF lenses also have more things it talks to the camera about than other adapted lenses do.

For instance, the latest update to the GFX gave us new capabilities on focus stacking, to set A and B points to focus between.

This works great on GF lenses, but does not work on my adapted lens....even tho the camera will work to auto focus it.

I'm guessing it is something similar with tethered focusing of non-native adapted lenses vs true GF lenses.

Anyway, that's just my small anecdotal experience sample of one so far....

    HTH,

Well that's disappointing to hear. I know autofocus doesn't work with the adapter but I was hoping that focus by wire was still possible.
