Nikon version = no P45+?
Apologies in advance for the silly q. I am a latecomer to the C1 20 party, because Management. I shoot with a Nikon D850 and a P45+ back. If I understand the product lineup correctly, I can use DB to shoot with the P45+ back, but the Nikon version does not support the P45+ back. And I can't have both versions installed on the same user profile(?). If I want to shoot with both devices using the same application, I have to buy the C1 20 Pro version. Do I have all of this right? Or am I missing something?

As I understand it, the Nikon version will open Nikon raw only - plus JPEG, TIF etc. Ditto for the Sony and Fuji versions. Only the Pro version will open across the board, and even then, Hasselblad isn't on that list.
As the P45+ wouldn't identify as a Nikon back ....

ok, that pencils. My other Q is whether I can have both versions licensed in the same user profile? Or does each install need to have its own user?

Different users, I think. But why would you want to run two copies given that the full version will do everything the Nikon version will do and more. They are the same executable. The feature set is selected by the license key used to activate the program.

I don't want to run two copies. At all. But Pro is about double the price of the Nikon-only version. And sadly, Management asks silly questions, which I much answer. I appreciate your help.

I don't think so - and more importantly, I don't see why you would want to.
C1 Pro opens everything except the aforementioned 'blad files, tiny JPEGs, greyscale files and .HEIC files, so it's a "one size fits all" solution.
Bottom line is that if you wish to open all raw files, rather than just Nikon, you need to upgrade to the "Pro" version.
All the best

It may help with management that C1 is currently offering 25% off?

Yup, that would help. Except that the TAKE25OFF promo does not seem to work on the 5-seat license. Sigh. Maybe I just won't bring it up. Not that a few bucks should be a dealbreaker on a software purchase. But, y'know. Management.

Ah yes. They know the price of everything and the value of nothing?
I guess the bottom line is that:
1. do they want the best possible results or not?
and
2. C1 is very time efficient. It could save you and your four colleagues a hell of a lot of time in post.
Good luck.

You are preaching to the choir, my friend. However, when you are translating your proposal into non-photographer language, it is fiendishly difficult to explain how myriad workflow advantages translate into superior and cost-effective outcomes. You would think that the checkbook types would defer to the topic experts, but this is not universally the case.

I thought in the past that all versions (except maybe Express?) supported Phase products.
In fact I read something to that effect a few days ago but I'm not sure that it was a current article nor the context - I just happened to glance at it in passing. I can find a post in the Archived section of the old forum that indicates that previous version of C1 for Sony (probably when only Sony had a special version) also supported DBs. That may have changed with the updates to the license methods and the changes to the way that Phase hardware and associated software now has a specifically dedicated support channel.
You could run the free Phase version alongside the Nikon version but would need to change the activation key when swapping between them. Or run a dedicated computer for the P45+ !
For the Phase version using the new activation key business model you need to provide the serial number of the back.
