Delete Layers From Multiple Images
Please tell me this is not impossible. I'm fairly new to C1 and have already figured out that copy/applying layers adjustments actually adds layers on top of layers (seems illogical to me), but is there really no way to batch delete layers from a group of selected images? I've been applying styles to layers, so that I can use them with reduced opacity, but everytime i make an adjustment and apply to the batch, I double the effect, which kind of defeats the purpose of reducing the opacity. I was really excited to transition to C1 form LR after all these years bc it is so robust, but this shortcoming, if I"m not missing anything seems like a drastic oversight.

Yes, you can easily remove all layers from a series of selected images. The how-to applies to all kinds of adjustments, not only layers.
Select your images. Make sure the Edit All Selected Variants toggle is ON to make sure your action applies to all selected images, not only the primary variant.
Next, in the Layers tool (or any other tool with adjustments), click on the reset button. This is the curved arrow. You may get a confirmation warning. Done.

Thanks Paul! Very useful all around. It's very nice to have those commands attached to the individual tools.

Hi Paul,
How about removing only one layer from all images? I tried your solution but it deletes all layers.
I am making a stack (600 images) and one layer has been applied to all, then other layers have been applied to different individual images to remove blemishes, adjust exposure etc.
I only want to delete layer 1 - but to all 600 images, while leaving the other layers in tact.
There must be a way to do this surely?

Ian,
How could you be certain to only identify the one layer you wish to delete?
Is it consistently named?
Is it always in the same place in the layer stack?
Can you be absolutely sure of your answers over 600 images? If so you are probably one of very few people who could make that claim and thus have potential to have a single rule set work for such a deletion process.(Unless you are simply trying to reverse the inadvertent addition of a layer to multiple images at some point during processing).
Might there be any possible unexpected changes to the image if the layer and its mask are deleted?
In the right circumstances I could think of a way to do as you require but only if the masking for any other layers was the same for all images (or very close to the same) and likewise the adjustments to be applied to each layer were the same for all images.
With a Mac it might be possible to do something with Applescript. As I am not a Mac user I'll leave it to others to discuss whether that idea might be feasible.

It was a layer with a little brush work that was copied to all images before in certain pictures other layers were added to only certain images to make minor changes. It is called the same in all 600 images.
Just being able to delete all layers is such a blunt tool, like taking a hammer to crack a peanut. It basically means you want to erase everything. I would have been happy with unchecking the layer, but that doesn't work either.
What I want to do is easily achieve in lightroom, because it doesn't use layers.
It doesn't have to be 600 images, but there are many situations where you might want to do what l am trying to achieve. It seem like such a basic function to me.

Hi there --
I want to delete one layer (a style adjustment layer) that was mistakenly applied to all images. My issue is I want to reset everything but the crop. does anyone know if there is a way to reset a selection of images but maintain the crop? The crops are image-specific. I'm semi-new to C1 so this may be a lame question, however I can't readily seem to find the answer.

If you have 4 photos, each with a layer 1 and 2, and you want to erase layer 2 all together, leaving layer 1, first erase all the layers of the remaining 3 photos by the method described above.
In the Adjustment Clipboard of the first photo, uncheck Layer 2 in the Layers section and copy it.
Then paste it into the three photos whose layers were all deleted earlier.
Is this not good enough?0
