C1 20 makes CPU outbursts in MacBook Pro
I don't know if it is a matter of C1 new version but simple editing in it makes terrible CPU outbursts in MacBook Pro , resulting in terribly loud fan and 5500 RPM. Really bad ... and not nice progress ... (it was not doing before). Editing stops and even exporting 100 photos makes no CPU activity any more

Capture One has always needed a lot of resources, and even previous versions made the CPU working at several 100% of use. My old MacBook Pro (late 2013) is not heating that much when editing images using v20 (fans are not noisy). Frankly speaking, I don't care that much about CPU use and temperature. It works, and it's all what I want !

I care ... I don't want to edit photos near a steam machine ... Even Final Cut Pro is quiet comparing to C1 (and video editing is another level )

Do you have other apps opened at the same time ? And what is the size of your images ?
Because my CPU works at less than 50%, its temperature is less than 60°C, and the fans run at 3000 rpm, even when working on layers.

What year and configuration is your MBP?
C1 does use a lot of resources, which makes me glad I've got them available. On my maxxed out 2012 MBP, C1 rarely causes the fans to go on. But on my maxxed out 2019, almost anything gets the fans going—that includes "simple" CCC backup. I suspect that the new machines, starting with the ultra thin ones in 2016, just can't dissipate as much heat as the older machines, and need to use the fans more. Granted, the older machines have slower processors (in my case, 4 cores on the 2012 vs 9 on the 2016) and lower powered GPUs, but they also have a lot more area for heat dissipation.
Apple also keeps tweaking how the fans work. When I'm doing anything serious on the 2019, including even editing PDF files with Acrobat, it doesn't take long before I can't hold the "laptop" on my lap. I chalk this up to Apple's design aesthetics rather than applications behaving wrongly.
