Import of NEF files into C1 20 Fujifilm

Hi there,
I have the following problem:
coming from Lightroom Classic CC and their enforced yearly payment, I just bought the C1 20 Fujifilm version. Too late I realized that I have quite some older NEF files from a former Nikon camera that I want to import (doesn't work with my version of course and obviously there is no plug-in available for individual cameras or camera makers - even though this would be a great revenue source, I guess...).
Other than upgrading to a full version with double the price for just one additional camera model, there must be some kind of workaround (e.g. with lossless NEF file converted into PSD, DNG, PNG or TIFF and then imported into C1...)??

I converted NEF files into PSD by export with my old LR CC version and it works OK to import the files in C1.However, I was wondering if there are any quality losses or do I lose any adjustment options within C1 compared to the original NEF files? Are there significant differences to consider with the file formats PSD, DNG, PNG or TIFF? I would think most of them are without compression (except for PNG) and therefore lossless. Is there a "best possible" format for storage and file transfer? Why?

Anyone out there with the same problem and some advanced experience, tipps, links to tutorials etc? I did quite some research on this but couldn't find much which answered all my questions. Apologies if here's already a thread about this topic, a link to this would be greatly appreciated:-)

There are a goodly number of Nikon NEF files that are not supported in the full version. I've got an old 5400 with about 1000 images I had to convert to DNGs as I got the standard "too bad, so sad" response from Capture One support.

Thanks. My former D300 seems to be supported....

However, like I wrote: I didn't intend to buy the full version.

My questions was rather: which workarounds for file imports are possible and what file format can be advised? It seems, that you chose DNG. Can you give me some ideas, why?

Hi Frank,

I would prefer DNG in your case. DNG is a lightly expanded TIF but is the best joyce when you work on White balance. And it keeps the original color depth as in RAW.

DNG is best joyce beside original RAW since V20. Before tzhis version Capture One did not work well with DNG.
