Capture One keeps freezing
Hi,
i have a constant issue with deleting files. Every now and then when deleting files from trash folder (either session or main catalog) the bar freezes (sometimes it's after 60/100 images, sometimes on 3rd image, or 250/1000 images. Doesn't matter). What could be the issue? This is annoying as i have to restart the laptop to close C1 and to run it again, but still - it freezes again when I try to delete files. Any ideas?

- Where are the sessions / catalogs stored?
- Where are the images stored?
- If the storage location(s) is(are) external, what kind of connection is used?
- Did you check that your AV-SW does not have a negative impact on the storage location(s)?
- Which CO version?
- Which Win10 version?

- Sessions/catalogs are stored on my main drive (C:)
- Images are stored on separate folders on my desktop
- Some of them are external, but I have issue with interneal files stored directly on my laptop
- Don't know what AV-SW is
- CO 13.1.2.35
- WIN10 PRO ver. 2004

I found one more issue - when I create a session I can't make new folders within it and due to that I can't make new capture folders. This really messes up my workflow, especially when I shoot 30 people in one day and I have to write down their names to remember who is who.
When I left click on main capture folder the "folder" option is greyed out (album or smart album is working)

You may want to consider whether there might be some "bad" data files lying around in the memory cache or the temporary work files area. Something that is not being cleaned up fully or at all when you restart C1.
Sometimes I have found it useful to reboot Windows 2 or 3 times WITHOUT LOADING ANY additional applications before trying to restart the applications. It seems that windows may get to a point where it's attempts to clean up old files can require a "stack" of files to be cleaned but it may need to be a sequential process and repeated rebooting appears to help.
Within C1 there are also "active" files like the userconfig file that may somehow end up in a state that perpetuates an instruction that should not be perpetuated but if now disconnected from the source of its current setting. If the reboot idea has no effect at all you might need to consider the local User based Appdata information as a potential source of the problem.
Since it IS User data re-installation of the application would not (or should not) have an effect. In which case it must be dealt with at the local machine and user level.

With AV-SW I meant your AntiVirus Software.
Could you open the 'Task-Manager' in the full details view and go to the "Perfomance"-Tab. When CO freezes, is there any high activity visible, e.g. for your internal drive?
What is your setting for XMP-Synchronisation? Full synchronisation causes a huge amount of harddisk activity, which results in longer response times for CO when accessing files of its (session/catalog) database. In the worst case, CO looks like "Freezing"

I have the same problem as the threat-starter. Very annoying - I had it with the last version of C1 (this issue was my reason for upgrading). But the issue persisted. (I have a new Computer and completely newly stalled software, so I am quite certain, that it is not my fault of my hardware/software).
I get the notification ""moved 0 images" - "about 10 seconds remaining" - but this never changes.just as the thread-starter, I can shut down C1 but I need to restart the computer to work with the session again.
Posting this to keep in the loop if any solutions come up. This might be the one thing that might force me to go back to LR if I don't find a solution...
thank you, kindest, ch

I have the same issue with c1 20 (sony)
Edit
---
It happened again. I restarted the C1 and was able to delete two pictures but it freezed again deleting the third one. The progressbar shows no progress, the timer remains on 10 sec. My PC however is idleing and was so during the deleting process. There has to be some kind of exception in the background processes. I'm still able to change the picture and its still possible to edit pictures. So C1 is still running somehow, but it does not finish the deleting job.

I have the same issue: as soon as I want to empty my trash or delete files from trash, the C1 21 freezes (sometimes after 7 files, sometimes after 1xx). What can I do to empty the trash?

Same issue. Has anyone found a solution?

Same issue for almost a year, no fix or any advice provided by capture one.
It's just incredibly annoying to use CO. This issue never happens anywhere outside of CO
