Rebuilding my Catalog

After defragging my external disk drive I could no longer open my main C1Pro catalog and decided to create a new one. I am trying to add existing folders and sub-folders to this library by using the add folder option followed by synchronize folder. This adds the images from their current location but is a tedious process. The restore from backup won't work due to the defrag process as the former catalogs cannot locate the images in their current location. Is there another way to add a group of sub-folders to my library?

  Did you try merging catalogues, i.e. creating a new one and merging the old with the new ?

  No because the old catalog doesn't know the location of the files. It is okay though. I've been adding the folders manually then using sync to bring in the photos. For the most part these are raw files CR2 that previously I couldn't edit in C1 Fuji. Now that I have updated to C1 Pro all cameras, I'm able to readjust those images from 2-10 years ago with the knowledge I've acquired and the new photo editor.
