DxO export to C1
I just bought DxO during the Black Friday sale and I'm still learning my way around. I used DxO's Deep Prime NR on an image with the intention of finishing it in C1, but on exporting the image to C1 I get a dialog asking for C1 activation (but of course C1 is already licensed and activated). However, if C1 is already open prior to the DxO export then it all works as it should.
Anyone else run into this?

No I have not seen it. I use C1 and Dxo together. As you probably know DxO requires Raw to perform DeepPrime NR, so traditional round trip editing is difficult in this case. I tend to start in C1, identify the file I want to edit, then if I want to take to DxO then I Open With, make my edits and then export from DxO to the original location saving as a Tiff. Now because C1 does not know about the export I then have to synchronise folder, this will then import the exported file. This method works like a treat for me.
I have never tried exporting from DxO to C1.

I can confirm what the OP is seeing.
It's as if C1 is seeing DXO as a new user.Still, hardly a problem if solved by opening C1 first.

Thanks, gb, for confirming and yes, given the simple work around, it's not really an issue. I'm relieved to know it's not just me who's seeing this.
@Mark: is there any particular reason you send a tiff to C1 instead of a dng?

Not particularly any reason for tiff over dng, habit and consistency probably. I have not really researched the merits of dng over tiff. I know the Nik software i also use works with tiff as an input and also outputs tiff, so tend to use that.

I read today that DxO dng files are just tiffs without a white balance, but I've no idea if that is accurate. I guess I'll try exporting the same file both ways and see what happens.

That's interesting. I shall have to read up at some point out of curiosity. I have always been happy with the quality of tiffs although the file sizes can get pretty massive. Slightly off topic but if you have not already I would recommend joining the Dxo community, there is a lot of good information there about PL and Dxo staff regularly join in the conversation, which is quite refreshing.

I find it easier to work the other way, import to C1, export Raws to dxo then export the dngs back to C1. I’m using dxo just for DeepPrime but you have to use the dxo lens corrections too as the lens exif gets lost with the dng export back to C1. Still experimenting though.

I do the same gb, except I export tiff, the noise reduction and lens corrections remain applied so I don't have to think too much about it.
I generally use C1 as the main browser and editor, and if I need to export to other apps like Nik (for filters) or PL (for aggressive noise reduction) for example then I do the round trip from C1. I find this the easiest workflow to follow. For most things I use edit with, apart from Dxo PL as I generally use this for the better lens correction and noise reduction.

The big problem with exporting out of DXO as a tiff is you loose C1's camera color profiles.
DXO will use it's own camera specific color profile on the raw before converting to the export color profile of the tiff.
If you export dng out of DXO you still see the original C1 ICC camera option in the C1 base characteristics tool for that dng file.0 -

I have not noticed this and I export tiffs from DxO all the time, but I will take a closer look the next time I am editing. I shall have to find a picture with blown highlights and see what happens.
