Applying the style - previous adjustment are erased or remain ?

I am always a bit confused about applying the style: if I made some adjustments before , do they remain there after applying the style or the style is applied clean ? If you already applied some style and now try to apply a new one, will the new one be applied clean or it will already keep the previous adjustments incl. the previously applied style ?

  As I understand it, if you apply a style it will overwrite adjustments to something you have done, if that is an adjustment  that the style affects. So if you have applied an "S" curve to get some contrast, and you apply a style that does something else with the curve - perhaps boosting the midtowns - your curve adjustment is overwritten. But after you have appleid the style you can make further adjustments to those tools. So you could apply the style, then tweak the curve a bit more, to your taste.

  Not always true.

  If you apply something during import, it probably will stay forever - until you touched it up manually.

  Even the Reset All won't help.

  Weirdest behavior I have seen.
