Backing up Express for Nikon
I have the Nikon Express on my Mac in applications and I would like to back this up by putting it into an external hard drive. I copied the software to this hard drive but when I go to open it up I am asked for the license key and I.D number. I put in the same key number and I.D number as the software in applications but it won't recognize them.
Any suggestions as to what I have to do?

So do you want to backup the app, or your catalog?
If you want to backup the app, and your licence only allows one activation (is that right for the Express version?) then of course it won't allow you to open it there. But why would you want it to? As long as you have the saved version of the app, you are safeguarded, and presumably you would get the best performance by running it from the internal drive anyway. Also
- I presume that as you are on a Mac, you have Time Machine backups available, so you already have a backup of the app; and
- in any case if for some reason your app is damaged you are always able to download it again and reinstall it.
If you want to back up your catalog, Capture One can be set to create backups every week, every day, every time you close the app, etc. But that doesn't back up the images, only the catalog database. So you need some reliable way of backing up the images too - again, Time Machine is ideal.

Thanks for replying Ian, I want to back up the apps. I have time machine running so I am covered. I have backed up other software apps onto my external hard drive and I am surprised I can't do it with Capture One, I thought I was doing something wrong.

You certainly should be able to back it up to there if you really want to - that is to copy the .app file there. But running it from the copy would be a different matter, I'd say.
