Exposure Zone tool - as on a Phase DB
I find the Zone Tool on the IQ3/4 extremely useful in assessing an image for correct exposure and would find it very helpful if it this was also incorporated into C1. Maybe within the Exposure Evaluation tool?
I hope that others may feel the same.

Is this a Phase One specific feature Paul?
If so you probably need to discuss making it available in the "Capture One for Phase One" version via the Phase One product support options - possibly the forum on that site.
These days there seems to be a clear separation between the Phase One hardware and system business and Capture One software..

Thanks for your comment and, yes, I think it is probably specific to Phase DBs but I feel it could be applicable to images from any camera at the early processing stage.
I use C1 for several makes of camera so have the Pro version and would like to see it implemented across the board.
I suppose my enthusiasm for this is fired by my experience with it on an IQ3 and it is likely that anyone who hasn’t used it at the capture stage isn’t going to be particularly enthusiastic about it appearing in C1.
I’m only thinking of it as an initial quick reference of exposure before going into the other more detailed tools that are available in C1.
However, it might be worth looking it up if anyone is interested as it is based on Ansel Adam’s zone system.
I expected to put a couple of links in here but was very surprised to find so little about it on the internet. The best that I could do is in the YouTube video linked below at around 22 mins in. Maybe someone else could do better.

Hi Paul,
I sort of wonder whether Phase can do something specific with the data output from the sensor that other manufacturers do not bother with.
Are you familiar with LightZone software? It is based on a variation of the Ansel Adams Zone system and was available as a commercial package until 2009 (iirc) when the operation closed down.
The source was made available to some enthusiasts a little over a year later and still exists today albeit with limited development. However, it is free.
Conceptually it is quite similar to Capture One sessions to use but with some features absent. However, there are other features that it has had for years that Capture One has never had.
Of course, if you are aware of it you will likely know all of that.
Thanks for the video link. Most interesting. Not a video I had seen before.
I agree it could be a most useful tool. However, at slightly before 39 minutes into the video they discuss the potential use of the Zone tool in Capture One and the point is made that by the time you have loaded the images into C1 the tools that are available somewhat eliminate the for the analysis that is so useful when using the digital back since the image is already made.
I wonder if the later backs, with Capture One on-board, have the tool or have simply reverted to making use of the C1 tools and Histograms?
