DNG files not imported?
Hi,
This is my first post in this forum. Thanks for reading my post.
I'm quite new to C1, but have been using LR since version 1, and been shooting with digital cameras for almost two decades now, and have quite a comprehensive knowledge about digital files, file management and so on. Anyway. When I add a folder to a catalog, my DNG files are not recognised (folders were syncronized with "include known subfolders"). Some folder show no files at all (blank space where there should be a number of files), but the folders has loads of files in them. My DNG files originates from NEF, NRW and CR2 and CR3 files converted into DNG in LR. I used C1 one to import some of my LR catalogs, and they seem to import DNG files with no problems.
I'm blank :-/ Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi Thomas,
I am in the same boat! Did you find a work around?
Thanks

Olya,
Unfortunately no ☹️

I will let you know how I go. I have contacted Adobe to see if they have a way of addressing this issue.
Thanks for getting back to me. :0

Thomas,
I shot the image on a Hasselblad camera and was able to open them in Phocus which is Hasselblad's software. The problem is with Capture One not recognising these files.
The problem is not with the files.... Hmmm

Capture One, with its close links to Phase One, choses not to support Hasselblad. A list of the cameras supported by C1 is here: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002718118-Camera-models-and-RAW-files-support-in-Capture-One

Hi Shane, thank you for your message. My Hasselblad raw files work in Capture one it’s just the ones I converted to DNG that I am having issues with. They open in a multitude of different programs except for Capture One.

"My Hasselblad raw files work in Capture one it’s just the ones I converted to DNG that I am having issues with."
Amazing ! I can't understand how Capture One is able to open Hasselblad RAW files, as Hasselblad cameras are not supported, for obvious reasons, by Capture One.

I just bought C1-Sony yesterday and really disappointed when I found DNG files from my drone uneditable. A round trip (Open In Photoshop > Camera Raw - adjustments > Photoshop > Save as jpg - in capture folder > Back to C1) does the trick, but still. I presumed DNG was some super-supported format like JPG. Guess I was wrong. I tried to upgrade my license but it's not available apparently.

Thirty seconds on the C1 site turned up this statement:
"Is Capture One compatible with my camera?
Capture One (for Sony) exclusively support files from Sony cameras."Also:
"Upgrade your Capture One
Limited time offer: Upgrade to Capture One 21 get Capture One 22 free in December
Upgrade to Capture One 21 before 4 October 2021 and you’ll also get Capture One 22 when it's released in December, with exciting new features like HDR merging and Panorama stitching. Please note, switching to a subscription will deactivate your existing license key."

Declan,
DNG, at its inception, was Adobe's initiation of a new RAW data storage format that they hoped would become universally adopted by all camera manufacturers to replace the existing (and often changing) mishmash of standards the manufacturers develop in-house.
The strategy has been partly successful. Most notably when drone and phone cameras are concerned. But there have been several changes to the standards specification over the years and not all devices can be realistically tested to truly tweak the RAW data values as required to get the best default interpretation of RAW data from so many different devices and, possibly, varying manufacturer standards as models are changed.
You could contact Capture One using the "Submit a request" option to obtain help with upgrading your license. I think it is something that is considered to be a rare enough event that putting everything in the process to allow self-management of the license is simply not worth the effort.
That said the ability to upgrade to a full Pro perpetual license should become an option if you cannot see it already. However, if you bought a subscription license then the way to change is to cancel the current Sony only license and start a new full Pro "all cameras" license. If you have a monthly license that is not so tricky.
If you bought the Annual option you would need to discuss things with Capture One

EDIT - Update - Victor from Capture One solved my issue. Very impressive for a Sunday evening!

I have been moving my many terabyte library and noticed that Capture One had never imported my old Lightroom merged HDR files (Lightroom DNG format) into my Capture One catalog. I am up to date with Capture One 22 and the program still doesn't import or sync these files. It did successfully sync the old Lightroom panorama merges which also use some kind of DNG format.
Most of my other photo programs do recognize these HDR files, but the Mac Preview program does not.
The latest Capture One can regenerate a new HDR picture so I need to think about whether I will bother to keep the old Lightroom files, but it is curious that Capture One HDR also creates files in a DNG format. These days I mostly use tiff for generated data.

You can always export as a TIFF.
FWIW, with future editing in mind, I would prefer that a merge generated as a raw-ish DNG file than a TIFF.
