Geolocalisation

I have found that you will get the best results if you add geolocation to your RAW/JPEG files before you import them into Capture One. It seems that the application does not update its internal database once you have imported a file. Houdah Geo would not show previews for Fuji Compressed RAWs so there are some limitations for that workflow.

There is one trick you can try, though: reimport an image that was changed externally through the normal import procedure. That should update all the metadata in the database but keep your edits in tact. But you better try that on a few images you can sacrifice first to see if that really is correct before applying it to your complete catalog.

    That's a very good tip.

I just checked it and it seems to work in my configuration. Thanks a lot !!

Some additional comments for whoever would like to use Houdah Geo :

    - the easier process seems to begin with geotagging in Houdah Geo before importing in C1.

    - however if you are in a situation where the photos are already imported in C1, this seems to be what will happen:

After you've geotagged the photos , when you will try to view them in C1, will automatically in the background update the metadata to show the modifications (including other location tags such as reverse geotagging). This may take some time, especially if you interrupt the process by going in other folders. As a consequence, it's important to wait until it's finished to go with the next step.

The next step is to re-import your pictures while unchecking "remove doublons". It will actually not reimport them but only update the "geolacation flag" used to know whether the photo is geolocalized.

If for some reason the gps and location metadata where not imported on some pics, launch "load metadata" to your selection of pics with the option "do not replace C1 metadata". Then reimport.

If there were for some other reason already false info in C1, choose "replace C1 metadata" but make sure you will not loose the info you want to keep (just as ratings)
