Capture One 21 - Shooting from Computer, Autofocus error
Recently updated to the Capture One 21 and our Off Model department when shooting from the computer/ keyboard is now having to hit autofocus and then separately hit capture. Originally they could click CMD-K and it was autofocus the camera and capture. This is extremely annoying that there is an extra step now and the fact this cannot be turned off is ridiculous.
Extremely disappointing. Big user of the program and especially as we are running Capture One through the Enterprise membership.
I have read in previous forums and post that is an issue in CP1 20, the fact that this has not been addressed in the new version shows how little you read these forums and issues.

Hi Charlie,
There used to be a problem that if autofocus could not not be found the shot could not be captured because AF would continue searching. This problem was solved by separating the two functions.
I think you should send a feature request to support.-2 -
seems that's the new normal now instead of really solving a problem you make it worse. very much reminds me of the insane layer behaviour change. and btw a lot of tether shooting functions modern cameras offer don't work in c1 either.
@ Charlie maybe it is time to check out the smart shooter tether app as c1 seems more dedicated to sell overpriced presets than to provide reliable working solutions for professionals.

I appreciate this could have been an issue before not being able to capture until AF has been found. But a fix for one error is a new error altogether!

one might think there is a kind of rest interest to keep pro user on board which would also mean to listen and understand their needs but it more seems the developers decide what is right detached from work reality.

"There used to be a problem that if autofocus could not not be found the shot could not be captured because AF would continue searching. This problem was solved by separating the two functions.

While if the shot was not taken, photographer would've checked those parameters and could've fixed it. I would like to point out not taking that potentially out of focus shot was a feature and not a bug. Please reconsider change. We cannot deploy this version in this function design. It is a clear invitation to out of focus photos.

@yuji
yes, a c1 camera communication / software problem is fixed by destroying what is a totally normal and industry standard behaviour. this is so nuts that the only possible conclusion is that idiots are in charge now.

It seems this is still not working. I have been using the older version of capture one to keep the AF working when tethered. Now we will have to look to use alternative solutions to capture one. No option to use AF is terrible. We setup multiple workstations where our stylists press capture - this needs AF to work. No way can we expect them not to forget to focus when they take 100 plus images in a day. if we have product shots with blurry images we have to go back and setup again for the same photo which is expensive. It is also expensive to have a photographer and stylist there just to check focus. They seem not to want to use some of the amazing features offered by Canon through their API, like move the focus point etc. I will take a look at smart shooter tether app to see if that works.
