Strange behaviour arrow keys no longer select between images and I need to click multiple times on items.

All of a sudden C1 started randomly behaving differently. Firstly, the arrow keys no longer select between images but instead adjust exposure elements. Also, I can only change between images by double-clicking on them in the browser pane (normally single clicking works).   Finally, an exposure slider will appear if I push the arrow keys (just over where the filename normally appears - see screenshot - ). This seems like some sort of feature, but I can't work out how to turn it on or off.

  I've worked out what was causing the problem. It was "speed edit", I don't understand why/how it was turning itself on though.
