Open a support request so they hear this.  A lot of people are having performance issues and come to this forum, but I don't know that they even monitor it.  If they do, they don't seem to be very active with replies.

Leave the software open for some hours, especially if you have lots of picts.

The Release Notes mention that an impact on performance might be noticed while the database is upgraded.

If the problem doesn't disappear, file a support request (and start reading a book before you'll get a reply)

    Hi!

I can just confirm C1 is fast and responsive on a MBP 2021 i7 16Gb 13'. However, I install a fresh MacOS every 2 years and always keep one version back from the current one (eg. Using Catalina not Big Sur).

It insure the OS a not junks and has been properly fixed.

By the way, did you chech the preview image size in the settings ? IT should match the resoution of your screen.

    Cheers

On my iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020 / i7 - it takes several seconds to load an image (with a 5k preview) onto my imac. Sometimes the interface doesn't response at all - the spinning wheel of death.
I hoped it would get better with this the update. I think that the graphics card is not properly supported and I was hoping for a Metal integration. But I think this will not happen for Intel. Or it is an issue with APFS.. who knows... very frustrating.

    Hi!

on my MBP 2012 i7 (Intel, 9 years old), C1 is fast.

I have some experience with C1 on NAS. AFP is not a good idea. I got the best result using Windows/Samba share. As fas as I know, AFP is not supported anymore by Apple.

    Regards

Sorry, I mean APFS. The strange thing is when I switch the screen resolution (scaled 1600x900) it's fast.
I've tried a new macOS 11.4 and 11.5 with no success. Of course I tried to recreate the previews with 5120 px. It still takes 3 "to display an image. So I have to live with that.

I tried everything with no luck so maybe, as Andreas said, there is a specific issue with 5k 2019 iMac. Apart from preview speed, my main issue is that after moving a slider it takes up to 4 secs for changes to be applied. I'll send a ticket hoping for an answer
