re-import in capture renders colors wrong
Hello,
I had a job this past week for which we tethered in capture one 22 pro. I then took care of all look development for the pictures in capture one 22 Pro, exported as TIFF (16 bit, Adobe 1998) and did all retouching and detail adjustments in photoshop (23.1.1). I then re-imported the retouched tiffs into the same capture session for export management and minor changes (sharpening, grain etc), but the colors of all files are read wrong (and in result exported wrong). For an average eye it might be quite minor, but I see a clear difference in rendition of saturation and generally.
What could be the reasons? Is there a fix for this?
I usually safe TIFFs from photoshop as Zip compressed (both image and layer), Interleaved, Byte order IBM PC.
Working on a macbook pro 16'' M1 max, Monterey
Thanks so much
Warm wishes,
Bennie
edit:
I want to add that:
capture one raw adjustments: as desired
photoshop tiff file: as desired (same as in capture previously)
tiff imported into capture: colors rendered wrong
I don't believe this has influence, but all files are shot on a fuji gfx50

Just a guess: did you check the consistency of the color profiles in your round-trip-workflow?
• capture one adds a profile at exporting the tiffs (based on the recipe)
• photoshop might honour or ignore it on opening (based on adobe's colour management settings)
• photoshop might add another profile or convert it on saving (based on adobe's colour management settings)such a mismatch might alter the colours further every time it goes through this "pipeline"
(in my experience: photoshop's colour management defaults are mostly to blame for not alerting you when an profile is already included...)0 -
Late to the party here, but could this be because C1's Rendering Intent is Perceptual and Photoshop uses Relative Colorimetric? I've always noticed a difference, however slight, between files when they're in C1 and when they're in Photoshop, enough that I always do at least a slight 1 point color curves adjustment to my files in Photoshop.

I have the same issue. The re-imported images look dark, green, and way under saturated. I created a style to apply which basically brings WB far blue, exposure up, and cranks saturation to 75% which brings the photo back to its starting point. But with those sliders cranked, it's hard to really do any editing. My image files are DNG's.
