Poor performances - C21 (14.3) x Mac mini M1

Hey guys so I just got an Mac mini M1 8Gb / 256Gb and I find the performances not that great.
Maybe I had too much expectations coming from a PC with an i5 2500k, 32GB of RAM, 1TB Ssd and a GTX970.
 
I use capture one 21 version 14.3 with the raws on the Mac's storage yet it takes 2 to 5 second to display a preview when switching picture by picture...
 
By upgrading I hoped it would be instantly  displayed but it's not the case. It's as slow as my old PC. Only the imports / exports are faster.
The preview are rendered in 2k as I was doing on my PC.
 
What can I do ?
Should I look to an other configuration ?
 
Also one thing I don't get, is why C1 doesn't use all the available resources either on PC or Mac ? On the M1 for example the CPU is never used over 15% and the GPU never over 10%

    I have the same spec Mac mini as you but do not observe the behaviour you see, everything is slick and fast.  One thought that does occur to me is that you could have 100% selected in the slider at top right of viewer window, this will slow things down as CO has to generate a 100% preview.  Once the slider is set at 100% it is persistent until you choose to slide it fully left.

    You meant the slider to zoom in/out ? If so, it's all the way to the left.

    Thats the one, afraid I can't think of any other reason for poor performance except that perhaps you have a lot of other programs open in the background.

    Was the issue resolved? I am thinking about buying a new Mac Mini for tethered shooting into C1. Any issues? Do you use it for Photoshop also?

    @Dave : It's the only program running maybe it has something to do with the RAM ? C1 uses around 5Gb.


    @David : No, mine is slow and no fix yet. I even downloaded C1 app to manually for HW acceleration on and off but no luck there. I really wanted to use the mini for tethered shoot too but if the rendering is not instantaneous, it's not going to work for me I think.

    Interesting point about RAM, I was printing some A4 size pics yesterday using the CO printing function and due to finger trouble with Mac printer driver for my canon 100 printer managed to get a number of print jobs queued - result a panic message about out of memory and swap 😠

    I bought the Mac mini out of interest after years with Windows so went for the cheapest low spec model, with hindsight I think I should have bought a maxed out version, I’ll wait now till rumoured “Pro” version with rumoured M1X chip arrives before upgrading.

    I posted this issue before. I bought a new 24" iMac M1 (16GB RAM, 2TB SSD) and was hoping that C1 would run smoothly. The switch to C1 even made me buying this iMac. But I am disappointed.
    - Previews still take 1-2 seconds to build up when switching through images
    - Masking is still laggy - no fun to work with (compare the healing tool with LR - these are different worlds)

    Buying even more powerful hardware with every release can not be the solution. I read about people telling me C1 is not that "hardware-hungry". I really do not want to defend LR - I really wanted (and still want) to switch. But LR is running amazingly smooth on the M1. Come on C1!

    I also have an pc with gtx 970 and an m1 macbook air ... and sure the pc is faster. besides the hype around m1 the gtx 970 is 3 times faster than the m1 gpu and c1 does most on gpu, so no wonder
