I've seen the same thing with XQD but not just with Capture One. It's the way the Mac sees the cards that is the problem.

So, Phase needs to adjust their code to allow import from CFexpress even though Mac does not recognize it as removable media.

I had a similar problem when first using the Sony Card reader with CF-E cards. From the input screen I hit the button to select the folder and then searched for the word Volumes from there I was able to locate the CF-E card reader.

After doing that one time I was able to use the reader normally for all future imports. It’s almost as if the Mac does not realize that this is a removable disk, so it stays hidden under Volumes.

It's not (only) the Mac, it's also C1 not seeing inserted cards depending if C1 was running or not when the card is connected to the Mac. I realized it makes a difference if I insert the card into the reader before I start C1 - in that case that card remains invisible. Also, when I insert the card before I wake up the Mac it remains invisible in the finder. I also don't see automatically inserted cards if I used the import dialog without an inserted card - C1 then jumps to the last folder I imported RAWs, and after that I need to select the card first before I can access the content.
