Do I NEED to upgrade?
I have been using Capture One 20 (for Sony) to process the files from my A99, a99ii and Rx1Rii. I am happy with it. I have just bought myself a Leica Q2 Monochrom. Its files are DNG+Jpeg. There is no facility to make any adjustments on the DNG files. Can I get away with an update to my existing C1 software or do I have to buy yet another version of it?

I think you need to license the "Pro" edition.

Also you would need V21 rather than V20 but that will not be available as a new license so V22 will be needed in order for the Q2 Monochrom file support to be available.
On the plus side the Pro version will allow you to use a single version for any camera in your bag.

Thank you for the replies, it is what I feared. Sadly it appears V22 needs OS15 to be installed on the Mac it is to be used on, that also brings in problems for other software that I have been using for a long time and still use. If I am wrong on that, (I am happy with the OS10.14.6 I have), please advise.
C1, as far as I'm aware, does not yet support colour channel swapping for infra red images, so it means I still need to have access to the version of CS6 I bought. (I also use a converted A6000 Sony to dabble with infra red.) I was messing around last night and it seems as though CS6 will handle the DNG files. I may not have to 'upgrade', there is a glimmer of hope.

Hi Mike
I am using v22 on 10.14.6 and so far have not run into any limitation or erratic behavior, which is not to say that there won't be at some point. In any case there was no warning when installing the software, so I guess the 10.15 minimum system requirement is mostly a restriction regarding support, like when you run into strange issues, that the C1 support team won't be able to replicate.0 -
Well Ruppert, that is interesting, thank you. I wonder if C1 staff/developers view these chats and perhaps they would like to offer some advice? I have no idea how to ask them. I won't spend any money at this point in time until C1 makes an official comment on what you have said about V22 running on 10.14.6. I have no intention of buying any more photographic equipment, I think I have more than enough to dabble at anything I wish, so as long as any software can cope with my existing requirements, I wouldn't really care about what happens re software developments. It would certainly be an issue if they chose to do an update to V22 and because it is being used on 10.14.6 it posed problems, then it would have been a waste of money. It's getting an assurance from C1 that if they 'gave their blessing' to a buyer of V22 who uses it on 10.14.6 then they would advise any such person NOT to do any update they may release for it in the future if it would conflict. Somehow I doubt they would do that.

...that is a question I would indeed ask them directly. My feeling is that v22 will run on 10.14. for as long as there aren't any compatibility issues that prevent it from doing so, like for instance when calling upon some system resources or functions that might not exist in 10.14. but do exist in the later versions.
But for the moment that doesn't seem to be the case and if at some later point an upgrade will introduce such a restriction you'll just go back to the latest version of 22 that worked with your operating system.
When you make the choice of not upgrading your operating system you learn to live with not having the latest and greatest new things, in fact in my experience you learn to get the best out of the tools you have, which isn't a bad thing to begin with.

I fully agree with your comment in the last paragraph Ruppert. Thank you. Yes, I will have to ask them. Now to try and find such a link!
