Barely runs on 15 mbp2018
It feels like fully paid alfa testing. MBP2018 with fresh installed and up to date OS, minimal or nothing runs in background. Nikon Z6 with around 800 compressed files (30mb each) after all imports and previews have done. No layers or any fancy adjustments. Exposure slider barely moves with up to 1sec lags if at all. Sometimes I wonder if touchpad working at all when it hangs while cropping and stays with hand cursor for ages not responding to other tools. While i can swap desktop or application it feels better to restart CO22 to make it run for a minute or two before next throttle or hang. Tell me that it perfectly fine and I just need upgrade to m1.

C1's running perfectly fine on my 2019 MBP (32 GB RAM, Radeon Pro Vega 20 under Mojave, various Canon Raw files). (I've got some apps that prevent me from moving beyond that for the time being).
From the brief research I've done, C1 should work with compressed (NEF, I assume) files.
What preview size have you chosen? Be sure it's at least the default value of 2560 pixels.

Runs perfectly on my old MBP late 2013, Big Sur, 512/16 GB. All type of files, including Canon 5D II, Leica and other DNG (some are 80 MB large), TIFF (some are 300 MB large), Photoshop and/or other SW working in the background. I haven't tried ever Nikon cameras. Looks that many depend upon your SW and system configuration/use.
