Using Capture One for stop-motion animation
Hi, everyone
I am currently working on a stop-motion animation movie which involves the use of a flash strobe.
I am sure most people are aware with stop-motion animation, the main difference in my project being the use of a flash strobe instead of continuous lighting.
Furthermore, I cannot use special stop-motion software since those applications do not give me control over my camera while shooting tethered. On top of that there are problems when it comes to image quality, exposure control, etc.
Is there a possibility to view the previous image and the current image "stacked" on top of each other, with the opacity of the current image lowered? This would enable me to see the previous position of the moving item (which I have to move by hand for every single frame taken).
Any suggestions and workarounds are welcome. I am fairly new to the software, so please have some patience with an excited beginner.
Thanks in advance!

It is not possible to overlay any image with another image in C1 (with the exception of the HDR function which is not what you can utilize for your use case I assume).
You can see two or more images side by side in the viewer though, or you switch between the current and the previous image quickly in the viewer with the arrow buttons.

Yes there is a function specifically built into capture one for overlaying the previous image. If you open the camera tab near the bottom above Capture Pilot you will see an Overlay box. You can drag the image you want to superimpose into the “drop image here” box found within the Overlay section and you will have this exact functionality.
If you can’t find or don’t have this overlay box the. Right click where you would like it then go to Add Tool > Overlay
