Capture One doesn't yet support lossy compressed files from the Z9 (high efficiency files). See the chart here.

    Is that the issue?

    Hi Ian,

Got the same problem, and yes this is the lossy compressed version of the .NEF which is not visible, but not only, when trying to import C1 just skip over the file and then they cannot be imported into the database (session or catalog). that' a a real problem, even it is somewhat understandable (I come back to this later on) that C1 is not able to open / edit the file because of the new format, it is not understandable to do not have the ability to import.

And after 3 months of public release of the Z9, not being able to open of the .NEF format is not very satisfying what ever the responsibility is, Nikon or PhaseOne, to say  ...

Conclusion, I revert to C1 v21, and will not use C& v22 until the problem is fully solved ...

So the answer is to use uncompressed raw on the Z9 for now. Reverting to Capture One 21 won't help - it won't even open the uncompressed ones from the Z9.

    Ian,

you perfectly right it won't help for the Z9 files, but it will help to keep my flow as it is without having to transform the databases from 21 to 22.

For Z9 you are right again, but that cause tremendous problem while doing reporting into the wild where files shall be saved on daily basis (more disk space, longer time thus more energy consumption performing the transfer). Once again this is not understandable from PhaseOne as Camera raw is working with such files, NX studio is also (sounds normal) working with ... Therefore my conclusion is PhaseOne is late here and not considering the needs of their customers, which is, from my point of view, the worse decision a commercial company can take.
