P45 connectivity issues
I have had cabling issues with the P45 for years, and this latest- the camera back does not recognize the cabling when connected to an iMac, is about it for me. Using firewire 400 to Thunderbolt with adapters. I hate the fact that I have to use long-outdated cabling, and the camera and software often do not recognize each other. Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Hi Peter,
it might be a power issue - make sure you're taking the power for the P45 (+?) from battery, not via Firewire.
a powered Firewire hub might help, too (in case you manage to find one, these days).

I located the issue- Capture one 20 is the last version that is compatible with my P45. V. 20 is not the version I use for most of my Studio work ( I use Capture One v. 22) with the latest Mac OS. With the P45 I have to use an older Mac OS (Catalina) and keep Capture One at V. 20. It's difficult to switch to a newer setup if I'm using my Nikon Z9. I understand that the P45 is an older model, but I do wish that Phase One would still support it. The back still takes incredible pictures but the workarounds are forcing me to move to another brand of camera. I don't want to, but it looks to be the prudent path forward for me.

Peter,
I'm not sure that supporting older technology in the digital age is viable when some of the core hardware decisions for which the design was adopted (i.e. Firewire in this case) have been "unsupported" by the computer manufacturers.
This has become and will continue to be a significant problem in a technological world.
Even basic things like printers become unusable when they are dropped from support in newer operating systems. But at least they are cheap, although discarding any spare ink that also becomes obsolete may not be so cheap!
It will be the same with vehicles soon. So much technology that will not be supported in the long term but without which, due to the non-availability of some small circuit board or software load the entire vehicle will not operate. The cost of such things failing will be the equivalent cost of a high-end digital back becoming obsolete - but with much higher materials and production energy wastage and a significant disposal challenge.
Sorry that this suggestion is of no comfort to your particular situation but it seems to me to be something to take into account when looking ahead and planning for the future.
The second challenge you have as a Phase One back user is to predict how future developments will be directed with Phase One and Capture One now (apparently) being run as separate businesses.
The problem is that even if one moves to a new brand of camera you may only be time-shifting the problem you perceive. Realistically it may make more sense for you, since you seem to be quite satisfied with the results you get from the P45 as far as your needs are concerned, to simply ensure that you have the supporting equipment available to make it last as a tool for some further years. That might offer the best cost benefit assessment rather than heading into a new and equally unpredictable (but expensive) system upgrade.
On the other hand it might be that breaking your bond with the P45 makes more sense.
Only you can assess that situation to your satisfaction.
