Capture One (iPad) as a standalone solution ?

Afternoon all,

I think I know the answer already but just wondering if it’s possible to use the newly released Capture One for iPad as a standalone solution. My situation is perhaps different than most with a nomadic life and while I’ve been using my MBP and iPad on the road I’m pretty sure before long the MBP (early 2013) will most likely give up the ghost at some point in the future. I’m not sure I want to invest in a new laptop as the iPad gives me 75-80% of my workflow ..

I assume Capture One for iPad is supposed to be used in conjunction with the desktop version or could you end up using it as standalone version including the ability to remove parent RAW files from the iPad (to external HDD) and leave previews ….

Also a real shame that the only option for sync between iPad and desktop is cloud - why isn’t local network an option here. Certainly would help out for those folks travelling and what to sync images without chewing through roaming data charges ..

Cloud isn't the only option for getting files from iPad to computer. You can export the EIP files and either Airdrop, although probably not helpful for a 2013 MB, or save to a removable drive connected to iPad. I have C1 21, which doesn't have cloud sync, so Airdrop was my method. Also, it's not really a "sync", it's a transfer, one way only.

If there's a way to save photos externally from the app and leave previews, I didn't see it. That would be a nice feature to have.
