[BUG] Renaming file states "too long"?

I've seen here and there others have the same issue.

A file constantly had an additional "1" added after my number suffix, however, no such file exists in that batch. I've even renamed and had the counter start at a number much higher than the total number of images in the batch - CaptureOne still ads the "1"

Then I tried renaming that one file manually, removing the one, and CaptureOne states that the name is too long (too many characters), which is very weird since I'm making the name shorter. 

I would add a screenshot, but cant.
