Not able to connect Nikon Z7II with Capture One Pro for tethering
Hi there
For a while, Capture One Pro can't find my wired connected Nikon Z7II. It was working, when I used the same setup in the beginning (Capture One 21 Pro), but suddenly it stoppt working.
I have currently Capture One 22 Pro running (Build 15.4.0.22) and the latest firmware on my Nikon Z7II (Version 1.40). I was hoping with the new release of Capture One 22 it would be fixed, but still doesn't work. I also tried it with wireless connection, also without success. The only thing that works is with the new iPad app of Capture One, but I don't want to tether on an iPad, I'd like to do it on my MacBook Pro (2021, 16", M1 Max, 32GB ram), like usual. I also tried to tether with the same gear on Lightroom, which is working. So, it can't be about the camera or cable.
Does anyone has an idea? I reached out to the support team of Capture One Pro, but I've got no answer yet (for months). Please help!
Thank you very much and best,
Marco

Hi Marco,
have you tried to change the monitor mode on the Z7 to „automatic display change“?
For me (Nikon Z6) tethering/liveview did not work when this mode was set to „viewfinder only“
maybe this helps.

Hi Jürgen
Thank you very much for your feedback. In the meanwhile the support team reached out to me and a few minutes ago, we found a solution.
I just had to remove the memory cards, that's all. Since the card slots are empty, Capture One just needs 1 or 2 seconds to connect the cam. I'm so happy!
Thanks again und cheers,

Hello,
I have a similar problem with Nikon Z7ii (FW 1.06) with tethering in Capture One (16.3.2.32) on MacBook Pro 16 M2 MAX but its a very weird one.
It connects properly but as soon as I press the shutter button it disconnects and connects instantly. Sometimes the photo pops up with a delay, sometimes it does nothing and other times it shows 2 identical files.
I tried everything from switching cords both straight and angled to shoot with or without cards.
The only cord that everything works fine is the the one from MacBook charger but its only 1.5m long so its pretty much unusable.
Previous fw versions from camera and Capture One worked fine.

Maybe list all the cables you have tried so far, and with what result. And I would suggest continuing in a new thread, as it seems that you have a different problem - you can link to this one for reference, but "piggybacking" does not make sense in my opinion.

Hello, @Stefanos.
Did you I find a solution to your problem since I have the same camera with same issue. But I don’t believe it’s a matter of cable. Also for me in the previous version of C1 all was working fine! Let me know if you manage to find a solution.0 -
Hello @Federico!!
Yeah kind of I just turned off the USB power delivery from camera settings and worked fine ever since with every cable. Hope it helps!

I have just recently encountered this issue and followed up with removing the flash card. All systems go now. Thank you
