EIP not supported in C1 23
Hi all,
i do have a couple of EIP files in my catalog that I’ve worked on together with some other people over time. After updating to the newest version of C1 23 these images aren’t opened anymore and C1 just tells me „this file format is not supported“.
I’ve opened a support case already, so far I’ve not received an answer.
So if you rely on EIP and are still on version 22, you might wan to hold off before updating.
Cheers

This is important information. I prefer to use sessions rather than a catalogue and EIP is the way I use to create collections. Definite killer for me. I am even thinking of going back to 21 due to the unfixed bugs in the print module introduced with 22 and still not fixed!

I don't use them routinely, but I have no problems with EIP files in a session in v23 (on a Mac). I don't think that Ralf's experience is typical - I certainly don't remember seeing any other forum members reporting an issue.
Out of curiosity, could you say how EIPs help you create collections?

One really useful feature of a catalogue is the ability to have collections. I find sessions work better for me but I don't have this feature. Instead, once of I processed an image, I export it as an EIP and keep them in a specific directory. (These are images I will be using several competitions.) This way I will be able to find them readily in my EIP "collections".

Yes, I know that you can have collections in catalogs, and I use them. I just don't know why you need to use EIPs to do it.

Sessions don't allow cross session catalogues.

What I do is work in sessions at first, and then when I have basically done what I want to do with the session, I add the keepers (generally the Selects folder of each session) to a master catalog, leaving the images as managed files in their existing location. After that, I only ever do any further work on them by way of the catalog. So I can organise them in as many collections as I need, and in particular I can search for images taken over a wide range of time in the one catalog, usually through keywords.)
