crashing on opening

My 2022 catalogue has just over 3000 images, but something happened when importing a session in December and now it spends for ever setting up previews (ie 5 hours) and then crashes when I try to assign keywords and delete unwanted pictures. I tried a backup and made some progress but then it crashed again and now crashes every time I try to open it. 

I have successfully verified and repaired the catalogue but it still crashes. 

I have the latest version of C1 22

Any ideas would be appreciated.

  It is sometimes helpful (I am told - I have not had to try it) to create a new catalog, and then import the old catalog into it.
