Importing an existing catalogue to another catalogue
I use a portable HDD for storing my catalogue, but it is running out of space. Accordingly, I bought a larger portable HDD with the intention of transferring the old catalogue to the new larger drive. I therefore started a new catalogue on the larger drive and imported the existing catalogue into the new catalogue, however it has only been partially successful. Although all the images and file structure were successfully imported, none of the star or colour ratings were transferred. But more curiously, edited images show adjustment layers correctly however none of the adjustments to the background layer exist and all the sliders are at the zero position. Another anomaly is that images that were edited in photoshop do retain their star rating. Anyone any idea what has gone wrong and is it possible to fix it?

No idea.
btw, does the old catalog reference your images, or are they located in the "Originals" folder 'inside' the catalog?
Maybe just copy the catalog from the old HDD to the new HDD?

Apart from the problems identified, the importation was successful and images were copied to the new catalogue. before trying to import the catalogue I tried cloning the old HDD to the new larger HDD. This appeared to work but i quickly discovered that all the images were 'offline' and I couldn't find a way to reconnect them. Infact, when I tried to do this with individual images or folders, they disappeared from the folder hierarchy, so I abandoned that in favour of importing the catalogue. Thanks for your interest/comment.
